        Background (SPOILERS)
4'33" is a 1952 avant-garde composition by John Cage (1912-1992). First performed (on piano) by David Tudor in Woodstock, NY, the conceptual work reflected his Zen beliefs on music, chance, and nature. A target of scorn to this day, the minimalist 4'33" nonetheless inspired development in many fields such as ambient music and sound art.
